Green Careers Author Featured on GreenBiz.com

Green job opportunities are on the rise as companies in all industries increasingly recognize the importance of setting and meeting environmental goals, says WetFeet author Frank Marquardt on GreenBiz Radio.

Marquardt, author of WetFeet’s Green Careers, spoke with GreenBiz reporter Tilde Herrera in June about  the green movement's potential impact on the economy and the need for new hires who can help employers acheive greater economic and environmental sustainabiity. “It's dizzying how many opportunities there are for green collar jobs,” he says in the podcast, noting that opportunities exist in Fortune 1000 companies, nonprofits, government entities, and elsewhere.

In "Careers Within the Green Marketplace," the WetFeet author defines green jobs and explains that the first step toward launching a satisfying green career is to figure out how to utilize your passion and interests in a business that makes a profit and preserves the environment.  During his appearance--and at greater length in Green Careers--Marquardt also outlines the opportunities out there, the challenges, and paths for undergrads, MBAs, and experienced hires to take toward a green career.

The wage gap. The glass ceiling. Gender stereotyping. These are pervasive issues for women in the business world. But as talked about as they are, many women still regard them as problems of the past or theoretical hurdles. In the Survival Guide for Women in Business, WetFeet Contributing Editor Sarah Baicker addressed the often discussed, rarely resolved issues pertinent to professional women.

Soon after its 2008 release, the Survival Guide attracted the attention of career consultant and radio personality Maggie Mistal. Mistal invited Baicker to her "Making a Living with Maggie" on Sirius' Martha Stewart Living Radio in September. Mistal, one of several experts featured in the book, also mentioned it on her "What If? Ideal Career Blog," for its focus on finding work/life balance, negotiating, and job hunting and the career advancement resources with which it equips women.
